more RINGforts ofTHE Burren

March 2, 2009

Ben and I unintentionally found this ring fort directly behind an abandoned church. Ring forts were areas of land encircled by a stone wall or stone wall which was used to build a bank of land that surrounded the dwellings within the circle. Throughout Ireland there are more than 45,000 remains of ring forts. Construction and use of ring forts dates back to the 13th up to 15th century.
